Proton OnSite's hydrogen generation systems use a platinum catalyst and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology to split deionized water into its constituent parts.
When a DC voltage is applied to the electrolyzer, water molecules at the anode are oxidized to oxygen and protons, while electrons are released. The protons (H+ ions) pass through the PEM to the cathode where they meet electrons from the other side of the circuit, reducing to hydrogen gas.
Proton product range includes hydrogen control systems, nitrogen generators and air generators, packaged solutions incorporating tanks, compressors and other ancillary equipment.
The generators are modular, field-upgradeable and designed to compete with delivered hydrogen anywhere in the world. A single H6 unit will supply the equivalent of one and one-half jumbo tube trailers every month. Multiple H-systems may be combined for additional capacity at no extra integration cost
